VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Alcoa's Adopted Flower Garden

   Alcoa Flower Garden Community Project

Saturday, May  1, 2010

8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

On Saturday morning, May1, employees, family members, and friends are invited to plant flowers in Alcoa's adopted floral bed at the intersection of General Robinson and Anderson Streets near the Alcoa Corporate Center.  Alcoa volunteers will join forces with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy (WPC) and volunteers from local neighborhoods, schools and businesses to plant 140 community gardens in 20 counties this spring http://www.paconserve.org/243/community-gardens.   Each year, more than 200,000 flowers are planted by volunteers.

WPC’s community gardens have become a signature feature of the western Pennsylvania landscape. Appearing in varied locations with many different configurations, the gardens provide a backdrop and enhancement for other cultural and civic assets. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation estimates that more than 5 million people per day see the results of this volunteer effort.

In addition to the initial planting on May  1, volunteers are also needed to help maintain the garden throughout the growing seasonThis involves minimal weeding and watering of the garden using the site's drip irrigation system.

If you would like to participate on May 1 and/or throughout the growing season to help maintain the garden, please copy the form below into an email & return by Tuesday  April 27 to Donald.Moeslein@alcoa.com.  We think you'll find your participation to be a fun and rewarding experience.

Participants will receive additional information prior to the event.  Please contact Don Moeslein (412-553-2153) if you have questions or comments. Thank you!

Attendance at Life! events constitutes permission for the Company to publish or use the attendee's photograph from such events.

Copy the form below to an email & send to Donald.Moeslein@alcoa.com by April 27, 2010.

Put the date, Saturday July 24, on your calendar

for the 2010 Alcoa Enjoyable Open!

All employees and retirees from the Pittsburgh region are invited to
participate in the 34th Alcoa Enjoyable Open. This year's outing will
again be a best-ball scramble. You don't need to be a great golfer; just
be willing to have fun!

be assigned to a group (as openings permit). Foursomes should designate
a group coordinator who will receive more details about the event, such
as rules and regulations, directions to the course, etc.
Deadline for registrations is Monday, July 19.
Participation is limited to the first 144 registrants. If we can't
accommodate everyone who registers, we'll determine sign-ups on a
first-come, first-served basis, dependent on when we received your
registration with check's attached.

Coffee, donuts and a buffet meal will be provided as part of the event.
The format will be a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. Here's the schedule for
the morning:

    NON-PARC ORGANIZED TRIPS:

        GUIDELINES

The PARC Program Committee has been asked about promoting PARC member participation in group tours that have not been organized by the PARC Program Committee.
An example is the National Parks trip, organized by a PARC member, where anyone can participate and groups are welcome.  While such trips will not be sponsored by PARC, we have developed the following guidelines to permit ‘advertising’ a specific trip in the PARC newsletter and on the web site.  These are:

      1. the trip must be organized by a PARC member or an Alcoa employee,
      2. that person must participate in the trip, and
      3. if there are any trip rebates, including group discounts and free trips for having a certain number of attendees, these must be equally shared by all participants.

        CURRENT TRIPS

            None
